Smears and Splatters

So I'm laying in bed drinking crystal light (thanks mom) and trying to clear my head from fumes. You know what fumes means? That I just got done painting. Yep, painting. I'm high on more than paint right now though. It was so good to do something that reminds me of home. Whenever I draw or paint or even doodle it's like I'm in my own little world. A world were anything can happen, a world where everything fits together in the end and makes sense.

We open the tea shop on Monday. So we took some old roof tin sheets and painted them. We will use them as dividers to break up and add some life to the place. We actually started hosing and scrubbing them off at 8:30 this morning. That was a wet, fun time. Then we spent too many hours in a garage putting smelly car paint on them. I have green around my finger nails and blue splatters on my feet. Somehow my knee got a red smear on it. And I love it. It makes me smile. Big.
Earlier this week we went shopping for mugs and coffees and tea and all that jazz. Hannah and I will keep teaching our English class in the mornings and then the tea shop will be open in the same room in the afternoon and evenings. I have a feeling that our students will just hang out all day. English is a high commodity. And they love to learn.

Last night was really amazing too. It had been a rough week for all of us so we made fudge, peanut butter balls, and orange jello. Problems were forgotten and tummies were happy. Comfort food still works in Mali.

6 weeks left! And then Paris, and then home. Home sounds good. People sound overwhelming. But right now I'm here and here is where I need to be. God is good yeah? All the time. And all of time works for His good. So it's good to be here. It might be harder to leave than I thought.

"My heart is steadfast, O God;
I will sing and make music with all my soul.
I will praise you, O Lord, among the nations;
I will sing of you among the peoples.

For great is your love, higher than the heavens;
Your faithfulness reaches to the skies.
Be exalted, O God, above the heavens,
and let your glory be over all the earth."

Psalms 108
