Now now.

You know you have a great job when it is impossible to find a plain blue or black pen in your collection of 47 colored, neon, gelly, smelly pens.

I now say things in doubles.  No no, sh sh, now now, go go.

You're a star!  You rock!  Look at you go!

I have as many pairs of boots as I have heels.  And I have wool tights in every color of the rainbow.

Yesterday I rode in sun, cold, rain, and ice in a matter of one hour.

My closest friends are in their forties and eleven years old.  The mountains still make me catch my breath.  And I almost jumped in the lake yesterday, I simply can not wait much longer for summer.

Here's to you, Sandpoint.  Here's to you class.

Something happened in our room this week.  Something that had me sitting on the couch staring hard out the window for a long time after.  God this has to work together for good.  Remember God, that's what You do.

So we sat in a circle.  Shoulder to shoulder, knee to knee.  I knew there was one thing that I had to say.  I wanted them to understand one thing.

Listen you children of the King.

I want you to know- all of you.  I love you.  I love you more than I love being home.  And that is a lot.  There's something else you need to know.  I've been sitting here and thinking about it for a while.  I will love you always, no matter what it is that you do or who you become.  Always.

We inched closer together, quietly.

Falling is a part of life darlings.  It's what you do after the fall that makes the difference.  And you were made to be different.   Sometimes we do things that hurt people.  We don't use our words well or we lose our tempers.

I come into this room every morning and I look at your empty desks and I pray hard.  My prayer is that you are wise enough to look at yourself and to see the wrong.  The greatest people are the ones who know their bad and turn it to right.

What happened in this room is not the only thing that is happening.  I'm going to give you time.  I want you to look at the people that you need to talk to.  Maybe you need to forgive someone.  Maybe you need forgiveness.  Maybe you have something wrong that you need to make right.  Or maybe you just need to sit there and think about our Jesus.  There is one thing that isn't a maybe.  We have to use our time.  We have to use it for Him.

I had worried that they wouldn't understand.  But God is big in small children.

We read the crucifixion story in quiet places around the room.  They talked with each other, they prayed with each other, they prayed with me.  They smiled, they cried, they grew so strong.  And they got it.

It was beautiful.  It was so beautiful.

Yes yes.

  1. I just randomly found your blog by clicking the "next blog" link on blogger. What a delight! Your entries are inspirational and beautiful. I feel lucky to have been "let in" to your classroom via this entry. The lesson you offered your 11-year-old students was just as valuable to me at 30. Thank you!
