Table for One

The sun is pouring in.  And it is amazing what it does for my soul.

I have been feeling like Christmas morning ever since last night.  I finally earned my free plane ticket.  A free plane ticket to wherever I click.  It took a year and fourteen flights, but I am here.  And now I get to decide where there is.

I have always wanted to take a trip alone.  I haven't been brave enough.  Or comfortable with being just one.  But I think it is time.

I am giddy.

So.  I think I will pick a place where shoes aren't needed.  Or jackets.  I will pack a suitcase full of sandals and dresses and loads and loads of lovely books.

And once I get there I would like to walk and read and drink coffee.  And maybe buy a newspaper that is longer than four sheets and get lost in the happenings of the world at a small table on a busy street.

That's what I'll do.

  2. Mmmmmm .... un-rushed vacationing book-reading bliss. I remember a summer that our family toured England, Scotland, and Wales. One week we rented a cottage in northern Wales that overlooked the sea and I would read every morning in the Welsh countryside. This is one of my few precious memories. Congratulations on your tickets and have fun on your trip, I am sure you deserve it.

  3. Listen Abbie Butt, I'm fine with my pathetic aloneness. I'm going to revel in it.

  4. I love your buttons. And pushing them. I'm tired of being alone. We should switch jobs. Ok. No we shouldn't...for the well being of all children involved.
